Customer questions and answers for TASSIMO Cleaning Disc

Question

How to get just hot water if you cannot use the cleaning filter?

What if you want to just get hot water out of the system. How do you do that? I see that someone asked about using the yellow cleaning disc. You said no, but you did not say how you could get just plain water out of the system. I have a mother who is legally blind with macular degeneration, and finds it hard to use the microwave oven. She would like to be able to use the machine for coffee, tea, cocoa, etc. But often wants hot water for a particular herb tea she cannot get from tassimo. Would she be able to use the machine this way?

Until recently, you could not do this - but NOW there's the NEW hot water discs. Be certain to buy the correct one for your machine, the colours denote different discs, it's not a matter of choosing your favourite!

Simply remove the piercing unit, turn the disc to the amount of water required, and receive HOT (80/90C or 175/195F) water instantly, for your tea bags or instant drinks - or even for cooking.

Goodbye kettle!

Tassimo does not recommend the brewer be used to for dispensing hot water. The Tassimo Brewer System was not designed as a hot water dispenser. it is a coffee, tea, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, and hot chocolate brewer using specially designed T-Disc for these beverages.

Question

Water not boiling

I have now used two tassimo coffee's in my machine and on both occasions it makes the coffee yet at the end of the program it shows the flashing red light showing boiling of the water hasn't taken place. Why only after using the already expensive coffee to find it is now wasted, surely it should stop and warn that there's something wrong before wasting coffee.

I'm not sure there's a "not boiling" light, BB4ALL.

One red get means the water tank needs filling, but this doesn't flash. The oter means the machine needs descaling - but the coffee should still be drinkable.

Run the descaling cycle before your "even-more-expensive-than-the-discs" machine clogs-up and becomes unusable!

Question

Reuseable filters

Does Tassimo plan on having a reusable disc/pod filter like the reusable k cup filter that Keurig has come up with? This would be so helpful for those that want to use other coffees/teas, etc. that are not available in pods. And also for those who may want to regulate their strength more extremely than others. I saw that there is one for Senseo machines (i.e. Ecopad). Would that one fit the Tassimo? I am trying to determine which coffee maker meets the needs of mother, and having that filter is a plus for her.

Many one-cup filters can be used with a Tassimo to brew your own teas and coffees. Check out the Coffee Brew Buddy (in-cup, nylon filter) and the EZ Way Coffee Maker (over-the-cup, metal filter) for starters. You can also use single cup cone-type holders (eg. Melitta with 1 cup paper filters. I used double-sided tape to attach a coffee barcode cut from a used T Disc over the one on a spare service disc. This ensures the right temperature and volume of water.

Question

Does the yellow light go on after cleaning cycle?

When I use the cleaning disc to just run a simple clean through the machine as opposed to descaling the yellow light never comes on. The machine just lights up the first green light again. Is this normal? I normally power off the machine at this point and then remove the disc some time later.

The green light comes on to show the machine is ready to start the cycle. This is true when you first insert any T-Disc, but also after running the cleaning cycle. There are times when you may wish to run this cycle more than once, such as FOUR times when you first receive the machine or after des along it.

Hello, this is the proper way for running the descaling program
►►Remove the water tank from your
TASSIMO machine and take the Service
T DISC out (10). Insert it in the brewing
unit with the barcode face down, and
close the clamp down firmly.
►►Prepare descaling solution (not vinegarbased)
according to the manufacturer‘s
instructions. If you cannot find an
appropriate descaling agent at various
retailers, it is available through TASSIMO
or Bosch Customer Service Department.
►►Replace the water tank containing the
descaling solution back on the machine.
►►Remove the cup stand and place a
suitable container (min. 17 oz / 500 ml
capacity) under the drink outlet.
►►Press and hold the start /stop button
for at least 5 seconds to start the
descaling program.
►►The program now proceeds automatically
and Descale and Automatic lights
flash. (Duration approx. 20 minutes). The
descaling solution is pumped through
the appliance at intervals and then runs
into the container until the water tank is
almost empty. A little liquid is always left
in the tank.
►►Stand-by icon will light up after approx. 20
minutes of running descaling program.
►►Empty the container and replace it under
the drink outlet.
►►Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill
up to the “max“ mark with fresh water.
►►Replace it back onto your TASSIMO
machine.
►►Open and close the brewing unit keeping
the Service T DISC in place on the
T DISC holder and press the start /stop
button. The machine will rinse itself. Once
one cycle is complete, press the button
again repeating 4 more times.
The descaling process is complete.
►►Now open the brewing unit, remove
the Service T DISC and store it in the
compartment at the back of the machine
(10).
►►Your TASSIMO machine is ready for use
again.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-877-834-7271, we will be happy to assist you with your brewer.

Hard water contains lime scale which causes a chalky build-up when heated. This includes the inner workings of your Tassimo machine.

Descaling (or removing the lime scale) requires a descaler, but be aware many commercially-available products contain vinegar, which should not be used in a Tassimo. You can purchase the recommended product from Bosch or Tassimo.

Make the solution in the tank by adding two tablets (or as directed on your product) to a full tank of water. Insert your cleaning disc and a LARGE (1L/2-pint) container under the nozzle. Press AND HOLD the button until the machine starts working - you are now running the descaling cycle.

When the machine is finished, empty and wash-out the tank and fill with clean water. Then empty the container and return it to under the spout. Press (and release) the button to run the normal cleaning cycle. You will need to run this FOUR times to be certain of removing all traces of the descaler.

Once competed, discard the water in the container and return your cleaning disc to the holder at the back of the machine. Your Tassimo is now ready to serve drinks again.

Start with a cup large enough for the amount of drink you'd like.

When the cycle finishes, and the plus sign comes on, press and hold the button for extra water. Note that the water doesn't start pouring immediately (the disc was empty, now refilling), so it won't stop immediately, either! Allow for this by releasing the button a least 2cm before the cup is full.

You'll need to stay by the machine for this option: the green plus light doesn't stay on forever.

The "cleaning" light is actually prompting for descaling.

Fill the tank with descaling solution (NOT vinegar-based), insert the cleaning disc and LONG-PRESS the button (hold in for approx 5 seconds, until the machine starts). You'll need a large jug under the nozzle for the waste (approx 1L or approaching 2 pints).

Then wash out the water tank, refill with clean water and run the regular cleaning cycle FOUR times.

After this, your machine should be good for at least 400 cups.
